The Board's rules are found in the North Carolina Administrative Code Title 21 Chapter 14.
- Footspa Sanitation: The Board has approved the use of EPA registered hospital grade disinfectants for use in the sanitation procedures for footspas.
- When using FDA rated devices licensees must maintain specification sheets and the intended use statement for inspector review. If the device is rated class 2 the licensee must provide the name, license number, and contact information for the supervising physician at the time of inspection.
- As proof of microdermabrasion equipment training, cosmetologist or esthetician equipment operators will be required to post in their workplace proof of previous microdermabrasion training (letter or certificate) from an approved cosmetic art school, or equipment manufacturer.
- Board Inspectors must have access to all parts of the salon, including occupied treatment rooms during an inspection. Failure to allow inspection could result in civil penalty.
