CE Policy Information

CE Exemptions: A licensee who is in active practice as a COSMETOLOGIST and has at least 20 years of consecutive years of experience as a cosmetologist can apply for an exemption from the continuing education requirement. 20 Years Work Experience Exemption Form

Individuals age 60 or older with 10 years of continuous work experience can apply for exemption from CE with the exception of teacher licenses.

Online payments for CE classes are mandatory both the ID and Pin are your four digit CE number.

CE credits have been expanded to the internet and correspondence courses. Cosmetologists will be permitted to earn up to 12 hours of internet CE hours per licensing cycle. Manicurists and estheticians will be permitted to earn up to 4 hours per licensing cycle.

Information on class cancellation must be obtained by contacting the class provider.

A new method has been created for CE Providers to submit course listings for the Board's online class information page. On the Continuing Education page a link has been created for CE Providers to list upcoming class information. Providers can enter and edit information for all of their scheduled classes, submit it for review and the listing will generally post to the website within 24-48 hours. DO NOT LIST COURSES NOT YET APPROVED BY THE BOARD.

Programs shall not be approved in segments of less than two hours.

Courses will be valid for a two year period beginning Januay 1, 2010. All previously approved courses must be submitted for re-approval.

Continuing Education Information for CE Providers

Natural Hair Care Specialists do not need continuing education at this point. CE courses for Natural Hair Care Specialists credit will not be approved.
